Journal of Islamic Pedagogy and Economic Ethics (JIPEE) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the dynamic intersection of Islamic educational sciences (Tarbiyah), moral philosophy, and Islamic economic ethics (Muamalah). Positioned as a premier scholarly forum for examining how faith-based pedagogy shapes ethical economic behavior and sustainable business practices, the journal serves Islamic educators, Sharia economists, moral philosophers, curriculum developers, and Islamic finance practitioners worldwide. JIPEE prioritizes high-impact empirical research, conceptual and philosophical inquiries, case studies on Islamic educational institutions (Madrasah and Pesantren), and evaluations of Sharia corporate governance. By synthesizing foundational Islamic texts (Quran and Hadith) and the objectives of Islamic law (Maqasid al-Shariah) with contemporary paradigms of holistic education, social finance, and ethical capitalism, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how morally grounded education cultivates equitable, just, and sustainable economic ecosystems.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to advance the integrated study of Islamic education and economic ethics, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic literature reviews, comparative theological-economic studies, and applied pedagogical evaluations within the following thematic areas:

  • Islamic Pedagogy, Moral Education & Character Building: Philosophy of Islamic education (Tarbiyah, Ta'lim, Ta'dib); integration of Islamic values and Akhlaq (morality) into modern curricula; pedagogical innovations in Pesantren, Madrasah, and Islamic higher education; and the cultivation of prophetic character traits (Siddiq, Amanah, Tabligh, Fathanah) in learners.
  • Islamic Economic Ethics, Philosophy & Muamalah: The moral foundations of Islamic economics; application of Maqasid al-Shariah (the higher objectives of Sharia) in contemporary business and wealth distribution; ethical critiques of conventional economic systems; and the jurisprudence of financial transactions (Fiqh al-Muamalah).
  • Teaching Islamic Economics & Sharia Financial Literacy: Pedagogical strategies, curriculum design, and learning media for teaching Islamic economics and finance; strategies for improving Sharia financial literacy among students and communities; and the socio-educational impact of Islamic economic literacy on poverty alleviation.
  • Islamic Social Finance, Ziswaf & Community Empowerment: The role of education in optimizing Islamic social finance instruments (Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf / Ziswaf); productive Waqf management for funding educational institutions; and grassroots community empowerment through Islamic socio-economic pedagogy.
  • Halal Ecosystems, Corporate Governance & Ethical Leadership: Sharia corporate governance and business ethics (Akhlaq al-Tijarah); ethical leadership and human resource management from an Islamic perspective; consumer ethics in the Halal industry; and the intersection of Islamic ethics with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of scholarship on Islamic pedagogy and economic ethics, JIPEE is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on the pedagogy of Waqf literacy, ethical leadership in Sharia banking, or the integration of Muamalah in global Islamic schooling may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
JIPEE enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, analytical objectivity, and theological/empirical validity across Islamic educational and economic disciplines.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Journal of Islamic Pedagogy and Economic Ethics (JIPEE) is to advance global Islamic scholarship by publishing rigorous, evidence-based research that bridges the moral formation of the individual with the ethical conduct of the marketplace. Grounded in the philosophy that a just, equitable, and sustainable economy cannot exist without economic actors who have been shaped by a deeply ethical, faith-based pedagogy, the journal aims to democratize research by providing an unrestricted platform for global academic, pedagogical, and economic dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse, rigorous qualitative, quantitative, textual, and comparative methodologies, JIPEE seeks to empower Islamic educators, inspire Sharia economic practitioners, and shape a morally enlightened, equitable, and compassionate socio-economic paradigm worldwide.
